Address: plac Uniwersytecki 1 , 50-137 Wrocław
Wrocław, a city known for its high level of culture and science, boasts a well-known university, whose edifice is an additional valuable monument. This is the famous University of Wroclaw, which is often referred to as the "pearl of baroque architecture". This huge building formerly served as the seat of the Jesuit Academy, today it proudly represents the scientific elite of Wrocław. The main staircase itself is particularly interesting. It is decorated with beautiful stucco and frescoes by Felix Anton Scheffer. This cage leads to the first floor. There is the most important interior of the University of Wroclaw - Aula Leopoldyńska. Its baroque interior captivates with its wonderful decor, and according to experts it is the most beautiful baroque room with a secular character that can be seen in Europe. The main heroes of the decorations in this room are the Habsburgs, but there are elements referring to the Silesian tradition and divine wisdom. On the ground floor, you can also see the interesting Oratorium Marianum, which has been used as a concert hall since the beginning of the 19th century. Unfortunately, the original decor of this interior was destroyed during World War II, and the current one is the result of a carefully made, post-war reconstruction.
