The undisputed icon of Wrocław, a huge steel suspension bridge, located over the southern Odra riverbed, near the mouth of the Oława. It is the only suspension bridge in Poland, on which both trams, cars and buses move. The competition for the bridge design was announced in 1905 by the German authorities of Breslau. The whole structure was built in 1908-1910. For those times it was a monumental construction, of global size. 2,000 tons of iron, 300 tons of steel and over 7,000 m3 of concrete were used for the construction. The bridge was officially opened in September 1910 under the name Kaiserbrücke, meaning '' Imperial Bridge ''. During the war it was damaged, fortunately not completely, thanks to which it was reconstructed and returned to use in 1947. In 1976 he was entered in the register of monuments. Grunwaldzki Bridge is one of the most important bridges for students. It connects the Grunwald Square area, where most dorms and university buildings are located, with the city center. It is also part of national road No. 8, i.e. the route to Warsaw. This is the easternmost crossing of the Oder.
